Learning to play an instrument can be a fun and beneficial experience for children and adults alike. Making music can improve intellectual capacity, enhance social skills, alleviate stress, develop discipline and patience, boost self-esteem, and encourage creativity and expression. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician, our skilled, experienced instructors work one-on-one with each student, customizing lessons based on each individual’s skill level, interests, and needs.

We offer lessons in guitar, bass, and various other stringed instruments, piano, percussion, vocal performance, and much more.

Lesson Information and Rates

  • Lessons are typically either 30 or 60 minutes long, once per week

  • 30 minute lessons are recommended for beginners and 60 minute lessons for more advanced students

  • Students are required to have their own instrument both for lessons and to practice at home

  • Instructors may require books to be purchased for lessons

Brice Shelden

Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin

A graduate of Waynesville High School, Brice obtained his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Central Missouri in 2011. He has over 20 years of experience playing musical instruments. With a love of music, guitars and education, instructing has become something he's very passionate about.

Playing the guitar is an extremely personal experience and each of his lessons are catered to the individual student's needs. Finding your voice through the guitar is a journey that Brice is more than excited to guide you through.

Brenda Sutton

Piano

Brenda is a classically trained accomplished pianist and has been playing since she was a youngster.

Brenda specializes in working with new learners and beginning their musical journey. She is a theory based instructor and provides new learners with the foundational skills they need to enjoy music for a lifetime.

Joseph Bennett

Guitar, Brass, Voice, Percussion

With experience in Marching Band (Brass), theory and performance at MSU and over 17 years of performing publicly every week with bands, Joseph can easily guide anyone with whatever type of musical instruction the student prefers.

Joseph is currently taking students of all levels!

Abby Buchanan

Violin, Viola, Beginner Piano

Abby Buchanan is a violin and viola instructor originally from Georgia and a recent graduate of Louisiana State University where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performance. Abby is a classically trained musician with more than 10 years of experience playing both violin and viola in orchestras across the south including the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony, and Lake Charles Symphony. In 2018 Abby was invited to participate in the 'Orvieto Musica' European Chamber Music Festival in Italy. Abby enjoys teaching students of all ages and is also a passionate chamber and orchestral musician.

 

Rachel Bennett

Voice

A graduate of Waynesville High School, with 4.5 years of private lessons in vocal performance at Missouri State University, and membership with the Chorale of MSU, Rachel has over a decade of experience with vocal music. She is passionate about proper singing technique and helping singers reach their goals and potential. She teaches students wishing to improve their technique and voice, assists with district and state performance preparation, and helps students improve skills like sight reading and music theory as well as developing study techniques to get them further in their high school or college experience and career.
